&Tradition
Classics and Moderns
&Tradition is a Danish interior design label that offers both design classics from Verner Panton and Arne Jacobsen as well as designs of contemporary Designer such as those produced by Victor Vetterlein, Sofie Refer, or Jonas Bjerre-Poulsen. Modern materials and production processes are used in the process.
Craftsmanship meets contemporary design
“Craftsmanship meets art. Function meets form. Material meets potential. That is Nordic tradition. And that is our heritage, which we cherish and preserve,” is how Martin Hansen describes the philosophy of his company &Tradition (formerly Unique Copenhagen), which aims to combine craftsmanship with contemporary design.
Scandinavian interior design
Metal, wood, porcelain, and the colors Black, White Natural tones combined with vibrant, colorful details – this design concept characterizes &Tradition's lighting and furniture and reflects an important style: Scandinavian interior design. The Danish furniture and lighting manufacturer &Tradition implements this style more consistently than almost any other.
Tradition as part of identity
Even though international designs, such as those by London-based designer Benjamin Hubert, are now being produced, the roots always lie in the Nordic tradition. “Tradition is part of the identity,” says Martin Kornbek Hansen of &Tradition. Thus, design classics like the Flowerpot lighting family and the Topan Pendant lamps by Danish design luminary Verner Panton or the Bellevue lamp by Arne Jacobsen are key pillars of the &Tradition collection.
Transform, redefine and change
While the principles of quality are timeless and will remain so, design and production possibilities are constantly evolving. The Danish company &Tradition aims to reshape, redefine, and transform, using new materials, applying new techniques, and exploring new manufacturing methods. At &Tradition, short supply chains are valued, and the majority of production takes place in their home country of Denmark, explains Hansen. “Craftsmanship meets art. Function meets form. Material meets potential. That is Nordic tradition. And that is our heritage, which we want to cherish and preserve.”
