‚'White Magic'‘

‚'White magic', '‘Black on White‘The phrases 'to have a clean slate' or 'to have a white vest' are expressions from everyday language that associate the color white with purity, innocence, truth, and veracity. White is actually the absence of color, yet it encompasses the entire color spectrum. This 'bright nothingness' has long since evolved from a once-obsolete 'non-color' to a trendy color.

Priests and priestesses wore and still wear white as a symbol of purity, and white also carries the same symbolic weight in baptisms and weddings. Professional clothing is sometimes white. Firstly, white clothing is the easiest to clean; secondly, it appears particularly clean and pure, representing perfection and reliability in our culture.

Just as white has become a trendy color for new cars in recent years, white furnishings have also found their way into homes. As a contrast to muted colors, white is one of the key stylistic elements in Scandinavian design and an important component of the Hygge interior trend: white-stained or varnished wood, white or natural white furs, white Table lamps and pendant lights, white furniture.

White reflects light most strongly and is therefore particularly suitable for small rooms and those with little natural light. In particularly hot countries—such as Greece—houses have been painted white for centuries. On the one hand, white houses don't heat up as much in summer thanks to the reflection of the sun's rays; on the other hand, walls whitewashed with lime are highly breathable and also repel pests. In contrast, black absorbs light radiation, thus absorbing more energy, which ultimately leads to an increase in temperature.

White has long since become socially acceptable in interior design and is considered sophisticated, elegant, clean, and cool. White walls create a sense of spaciousness and give rooms a touch of infinity. Everything goes with white, and everything can be combined with it.

At the same time, white increases contrast and, for example, really showcases color and materials. We see this in the Panthella lighting series consisting of table and floor lamps, or the Flowerpot Lighting family. Even in combination with white marble, white highlights the colored lampshade, as for example in the SNOOPY Table lamp by Flos.

White reflects light and therefore emits no energy. When combined with black and skillfully used, white can create interesting accents. This effect was exploited by... Designer How Victor Vasarely He took advantage of this. He used colour blocking in a variety of patterns, where he also contrasted round shapes with angular shapes.
