Saliscendi included in the ADI Design Index
News from Stilnovo: The pendant light Saliscendi has been included in the ADI Design Index 2022. Although the Saliscendi luminaire was designed by Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni for the Milan Chamber of Commerce back in 1957, it was not ready for series production until 2021 - a full 64 years later.
New dimensions - new technology
The Saliscendi pendant light, redesigned with LED technology and reduced dimensions, will be launched on the market in 2021 for the first time in its history, making it accessible to everyone. As an expression of Stilnovo's design and technological manufacturing maxim, Saliscendi quickly becomes the flagship of the Italian lighting manufacturer's new direction.
Historical root
The two prototypes installed in the Sala della Giunta in Milan and the archive material provided by the heirs of Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni - more than sixty years after the creation of the two prototypes - serve as the basis for the development of the contemporary Saliscendi pendant light .
Direct and indirect light
However, Saliscendi is an impressive masterpiece not only from a historical, but also from a technical point of view. On the one hand, the height of the finished ceiling-mounted pendant light can be individually adjusted. Secondly, the pendant light offers double light emission, upwards and downwards. The two elements, which move in opposite directions in this way, diffuse more direct or indirect light depending on the distance.
The design price
Now, pendant light Saliscendi has been included in the ADI Design Index and has been shortlisted as a candidate for the ADI Compasso d'Oro 2024, the most prestigious award for the production and design quality of goods, services, processes and systems in Italy. The ADI Design Index is the annual publication of the ADI, the authoritative association for industrial design, which lists the best Italian design selected by the Osservatorio Permanente del Design ADI.
The pendant light Saliscendi, licensed re-edition of the original from 1957, is available in all versions from Stilnovo partner TAGWERC.
