Saliscendi included in the ADI Design Index

Historical Roots

The development of the contemporary Saliscendi pendant lamp is based on the two prototypes that were installed in the Sala della Giunta in Milan and the archival material provided by the heirs of Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni – more than sixty years after the creation of the two prototypes.

Direct and indirect light

But Saliscendi is an impressive masterpiece not only from a historical perspective, but also from a technical one. Firstly, the pendant lamp, already mounted on the ceiling, can be individually adjusted in height. Secondly, the pendant lamp offers dual light emission, both upwards and downwards. These two elements, moving in opposite directions, diffuse more direct or indirect light depending on the distance.

The Design Prize

The Saliscendi pendant lamp has now been included in the ADI Design Index and is thus shortlisted for the ADI Compasso d'Oro 2024, the most prestigious award for the production and design quality of goods, services, processes, and systems in Italy. The ADI Design Index is the annual publication of the ADI, the leading association for industrial design, which lists the best Italian designs selected by the Osservatorio Permanente del Design ADI.
