Inspired by the dandelion, the prefiguration of a dandelion flower, Achille Castiglioni named his round light sculpture after the botanical name of the dandelion, Taraxacum. Like the dandelion, which sends its seeds, reminiscent of parasols, out into the world with a breeze, the Taraxacum 88 S1 pendant light directs its rays of light outwards and illuminates its surroundings. The viewer does not only succumb to the special charm of the Taraxacum 88 S1 pendant light when it lights up. The mere shape of the luminaire embodies elegance, lightness and luxury. This applies to both the Taraxacum 88 S1 pendant light and its big sister, Taraxacum 88 S2 and the wall and ceiling light Taraxacum 88 C/W.
But not only visually white The Taraxacum 88 S1 pendant light is convincing. Its design is as simple as it is ingenious. This is because 20 parts made of polished aluminum in the shape of triangles form the heart of the Taraxacum 88 S1, the almost round body of the luminaire. The triangles are held together mechanically by metal rods. With a diameter of 80 centimetres, the pendant light is equipped with a textile-sheathed power cable measuring 5.5 meters in length. A steel suspension cable and canopy are robust enough to keep the 10.6 kilogram Taraxacum 88 S1 luminaire in balance. The body of the luminaire is fitted with 60 Globe light sources, which are arranged all around and emphasize the spherical shape. The globe lamps are available separately and can be ordered in the TAGWERC Design STORE with LED lighting technology can be selected.
