Batlló Bench

Casa Batlló, named after its then-owners, designed Antoni Gaudí Between 1904 and 1906, he completely remodeled the building and designed a small selection of seating – chairs and benches – specifically for this residential and commercial building in the heart of Barcelona. Like the charismatic building itself, whose façade depicts the legend of Saint George, the furniture designed for it bears Gaudí's unique signature. This is evident in both the Batlló Bench and the Batlló Chair Form follows function. A rearward-curving seat and a backrest that embraces the sitter give the Batlló Bench ergonomic comfort.

The Batlló Bench resembles a sculpture more than a bench. Although made of solid oak, its delicate and elegant design prevents it from appearing bulky or heavy. The unique construction of the Batlló Bench immediately catches the eye, reminiscent of Siamese twin chairs sharing a central backrest. The two-seater features solid legs that give the Batlló Bench a stable base. Together with a concave backrest, this lends the Batlló Bench a certain dynamism and reflects the distinctive design principles of the great master Gaudí.

In the bedroom, a dressing room, the hallway, or a previously unused niche – the Batlló Bench invites you to linger, whether for a short break or a longer period, and thanks to its compact size, it quickly finds its perfect spot even without ample space. As a highlight in a reception area or as seating in an executive office, the Batlló Bench embodies understated luxury that a connoisseur recognizes and appreciates. The TAGWERC The furniture from the Batlló collection offered by Design STORE is not just furnishings – it is design objects and works of art at the same time, taking the viewer and user on a journey into design history.

Antoni Gaudí is one of the most famous—if not the most famous—Spanish architects of the 20th century. The Catalan-born architect created a series of fantastic buildings in his hometown of Barcelona, which continue to attract millions of visitors every year. To complement his buildings, Gaudí created a range of interior design objects that reflect his design style, Modernisme.
