Bulb table lamp Design classic

The origin story of the „Bulb“Table and floor lamp It's as simple as it is ingenious. Maurer recounts that he was in Venice on business and, after a wonderful meal, returned to his simple hostel with a bottle of red wine. There, a bare lightbulb illuminated his room. "It was like a 'coup de foudre' ('love at first sight')!" Maurer recalls. Still slightly tipsy, he sketched a lamp, and the next day, he found a manufacturer on Murano who produced a first draft of the glass within a day and a half. Back in Munich, the glass was complemented by a base made of pressed metal. "The Bulb was born!"‚

„The quality of the light is more important to me than the form, and that’s what I’ve focused on,“ says Ingo Maurer about his work as one of the most important light artists.Designer of the 20th century. His lighting designs were preceded by the iconic "Bulb" lamp, which came about in 1966 through a twist of fate and accompanied Ingo Maurer throughout his life: "The light bulb has always been my guiding principle, from the very beginning." Just three years later – in 1969 – the Bulb lamp was added to the permanent design collection of the MoMA Recorded in New York.

With a height of 30 centimeters and a diameter of 20 centimeters, the Bulb table lamp The lamp is powered by a two-meter-long cable equipped with a switch. The base of the Bulb lamp is made of highly polished chrome-plated metal. For design reasons, Ingo Maurer originally fitted the Bulb lamp with a 100-watt bulb. However, times and the incandescent bulb market have changed dramatically since then. Therefore, this lamp now comes with a correctly sized LED string bulb. This Bulb bulb is in the TAGWERC Design STORE also available separately. Besides the bulb, there is the B.Bulb Table lamp, the portable battery-powered table lamp, available from TAGWERC as a separate item.
