Formakami JH3
The pendant light Formakami JH3 Provides indirect, omnidirectional light and can be fitted with two E27 bulbs, each with a maximum wattage of 60 watts. Several Formakami JH3, Formakami JH4 and Formakami JH5 Pendant lights, suspended at varying heights, create a calming ambiance in the room. A four-meter-long, fabric-covered power cable, with which the Formakami pendant lights are equipped, offers ample flexibility in placement. By grouping several Formakami pendant lights together, they form islands of light in hallways, foyers, galleries, mezzanines, living rooms, offices, and, of course, as a striking design element in an unused corner of the bedroom or as bedside lamps.
Paper lanterns have a long tradition in Asian culture. Different shapes and colors are attributed different meanings with individual symbolic power and are used in the Far East depending on the occasion. The so-called "Japanese globe," a white paper globe lampshade, began its triumphant march through homes worldwide in the 1970s and is likely familiar to everyone. It's comparable to the white "Monobloc" plastic chair, which sold millions of units. But with Hayon, the rising star of the design scene, it's different. Breaking free from cultural constraints to reinvent something old yet new perfectly encapsulates Hayon's style.
At 65 centimeters high and 45 centimeters in diameter, the Formakami JH3 pendant lamp weighs less than one kilogram. This makes it incredibly easy to handle. A black canopy with rounded sides provides a perfect finish to the ceiling. In the style of traditional Japanese lanterns, the lampshade of the Formakami JH3 pendant lamp is made from natural and renewable materials.
„Hayon has captured the essence of this iconic lantern by combining craftsmanship and ancient materials such as rice paper into a new lamp designed for a modern setting,“, white Martin Kornbek Hansen, Brand Director of &tradition, adds: „The effect is a pendant lamp that provides light – and appears bright.“
„"Light has the ability to dispel darkness and bring hope," he adds. Jaime Hayon He added, „I kept the color white on the paper lanterns to make the lamps themselves appear brighter. I also wanted them to emit even more light. More illumination. So I cut the bottom shape in half and leave it open. With a secret wish to brighten people's lives – literally and symbolically.”
„For me, the beauty of these lanterns lies in their delicacy,“ Hansen concludes. „The airy, bulbous shapes in white rice paper, accentuated with black "Seeing stained oak is pure poetry."“
