Formakami JH3

The pendant light Formakami JH3 provides indirect, all-round light and can be fitted with two E27 light sources of up to 60 watts each. Several Formakami JH3, Formakami JH4 and Formakami JH5 pendant lights, suspended at different heights, create a haven of peace in the room. A four meter long, textile-covered power cable, with which the Formakami pendant lights are equipped, offers plenty of room for maneuver. When grouped together, several Formakami pendant lights form islands of light in the hallway, foyer, gallery, gallery, living room, office and, of course, as a special design element in an unused corner of the bedroom or as bedside lamp(s) next to the bed.

Paper lanterns have a long tradition in Asian culture. Different shapes and colors are attributed different meanings with individual symbolic power and are used in the Far East depending on the occasion. The so-called 'Japan ball', a white paper ball shade, began its triumphal march through homes around the world in the 1970s and is probably familiar to everyone. It is comparable to the white 'Monobloc' plastic chair, which was sold millions of times over. Hayon, the shooting star of the design scene, is different. Breaking away from cultural constraints to reinvent something old but new is Hayon's style in a nutshell.

With a height of 65 centimetres and a diameter of 45 centimetres, the Formakami JH3 pendant light weighs less than one kilogram. This makes the lightweight lamp incredibly easy to handle. A black canopy rounded at the sides provides a matching ceiling finish. In the style of traditional Japanese lanterns, the lampshade of the pendant light Formakami JH3 is made from natural and renewable materials.

"Hayon has captured the essence of this iconic lantern by combining craftsmanship and ancient materials such as rice paper in a new lamp designed for a modern setting." white Martin Kornbek Hansen, Brand Director of &tradition. He adds: "The effect is a pendant light that provides light - and appears bright."

"Light has the ability to dispel darkness and bring hope," adds Jaime Hayon added. "For the paper lanterns, I kept the color white to make the appearance of the lamps themselves brighter. I also wanted them to emit even more light. More illumination. So I cut the bottom shape in half and left it open. With a secret desire to illuminate people's lives - literally and symbolically."

"For me, the beauty of these lanterns lies in their delicacy," concludes Hansen. "The airy, bulbous shapes in white rice paper, accented with black stained oak, is pure poetry."
