Lounge Gun chrome floor lamp
The inscription on the base of the Gun lamp reflects this political intention. “Happiness is a hot gun,” it reads. Not to be forgotten is the inside of the lampshade, where printed crosses reinforce the statement. The lamp base is shaped like an M16 rifle standing vertically on its butt plate, a rifle used by, among others, the US armed forces. In a simple yet elegant way, the light source is concealed to the side. The Lounge Gun Chrome floor lamp is equipped with a state-of-the-art light source: a 21-watt LED with a color temperature of 3,000 Kelvin (warm white). Flos states that it donates 20 percent of the proceeds from the sale of its Guns lighting collection to the non-profit organization "Frères de Hommes Europe," which provides humanitarian aid in crisis areas, primarily in Asia, Africa, and Latin America. The lamps in the Guns collection are political statements and works of art that denounce war, the arms trade, and the associated predatory greed. As such, the Gun lamp is on permanent display at the Centre Georges Pompidou, the museum of contemporary art in Paris.
