The inscription on the base of the Gun lamp reflects this political intention. “Happiness is a hot gun,” it reads. Not to be forgotten is the inside of the lampshade, where printed crosses reinforce the statement. The lamp base is shaped like an M16 rifle standing vertically on its butt plate, a rifle used by, among others, the US armed forces. The lamps in the Guns collection are political statements and works of art that denounce war, the arms trade, and the associated predatory greed. As such, the Gun lamp is on permanent display at the Centre Georges Pompidou, the museum of contemporary art in Paris.
