The Bedside Gun Gold is available for two different light sources: on the one hand for conventional lamps up to 70 watts with an E27 thread and a light temperature of 2,700 Kelvin (warm white). The other is for 8 watt LEDs, each with a light temperature of 2,700 Kelvin or 3,000 Kelvin (both warm white). A round base gives the Bedside Gun Gold table lamp from Flos a secure stand. This is also where the cable connection is located on the side, which allows the Table Gun Gold supplied with energy.
Bedside Gun Gold by Philippe Starck for the Italian lighting manufacturer Flos is more than just a bedside lamp. Rather, the table lamp Bedside Gun Gold is both an art object and a political statement. Philippe Starck: "I wanted to design objects that remind us that our prosperity is based on the death of others." The inscription on the Guns lamp base reflects this political intention. "Happiness is a hot gun", can be read here. Not forgetting the inside of the lampshade, on which printed crosses underline the statement. The base of the lamp is in the shape of a Beretta handgun standing vertically upwards on the butt plate.
The Italian self-loading pistol, a top seller among handguns, has also been used by the American army under the designation M 9 since 1985. In addition to the Beretta, Philippe Starck used the silhouette of the Russian Kalashnikov AK 47 assault rifle and machine gun in the table lamp table gun and the M16 rifle in the floor lamp Lounge Gun for his social criticism turned design.
Flos states that 20 percent of the proceeds from the sale of the Guns lights collection will be donated to the non-profit organization "Frères de Hommes Europe", which provides humanitarian aid in crisis areas, particularly in Asia, Africa and Latin America. The lights of the Guns collection are political statements and art that denounce war and the arms trade as well as the predatory greed associated with it. As such, the Guns lamp is on permanent display at the "Centre George Pompidou" museum of contemporary art in Paris.
Bedside Gun Gold, the table lamp by Flos from the Guns lighting series, was designed by Philippe Starck in 2005. Thanks to its striking and engaging silhouette, the 42.6 cm high table lamp Bedside Gun Gold looks like a progressive lighting object, a statement for bedside tables and sideboards. In the TAGWERC Design STORE you can obtain the table lamp Bedside Gun Gold and all lights from the Guns collection by Flos as licensed originals with a guarantee of authenticity. In the Philippe Starck collection at TAGWERC, you will also find the Guns lights as table lamp Table Gun and as floor lamp Lounge Gun.
