PH 5

The designer's considerations when designing the PH 5 pendant light The development of the pendant light PH 5 is still bearing fruit today, as it can be operated with almost all standard lamps (incandescent lamps, halogen lamps, energy-saving lamps and LED lamps) without any problems. Thanks to the bayonet catch, the light source can be easily replaced even if a PH 5 pendant light is already fitted.

The lampshades and diffuser of the PH 5 pendant light shield the light source, ensuring glare-free light. At the same time, the light reflection creates a pleasant and atmospheric zone light that illuminates the immediate surroundings and makes the PH 5 pendant light by Louis Poulsen recommended for illuminating tables and corridors. A clip-on canopy makes the cable and power connection disappear in a simple and elegant way.

The Designer Poul Henningsen commented on the creation of the PH 5 luminaire with the following words: "After 33 years of basically Christian behavior, I have converted to Islam, so to speak, with regard to my broken relationship with the manufacturers of light bulbs. For a long time I believed that consideration for the consumer and common sense would prevail, but now I have become a fatalist. I have accepted fate and, with the approval of Louis Poulsen, designed a PH luminaire that can be used with any type of light source - fairy lights or 100-watt metal filament lamps. Although a fluorescent tube in its existing form would be too much!"
