PH Artichoke Design classic
Design for the Royal Danish Yacht Club
Truly a design classic and a masterpiece - the pendant light PH Artichoke from Poul Henningsen boasts worldwide fame and recognition and is sometimes referred to as a cone luminaire or PH cone. Poul Henningsen, known for his pioneering work in the field of "glare-free light", was commissioned to develop a luminaire for the Langelinie Pavilion under construction on the coast of Copenhagen that would remain attractive even when switched off. In 1958, the time had come. The PH Artichoke attracted attention at the opening of the Bauhaus-style building, which housed a restaurant and the Royal Danish Yacht Club.

'Leaves' for glare-free light
The charismatic luminaire's shape is reminiscent of an artichoke, the thistle-like cultivated plant from the Mediterranean region from which it takes its name. Poul Henningsen positioned 72 metal plates, which resemble leaves in their function, in 12 rows around the core of the luminaire, the light source. This type of design guarantees completely glare-free light - regardless of the perspective from which the pendant light PH Artichoke is viewed.
Four different sizes
The light is distributed both inwards and outwards thanks to the special design. The leaves shield the light source and reflect the light at the same time. The excellent quality of light is also retained in the LED version of the PH Artichoke . The PH Artichoke is available in four different sizes: with diameters of 48, 60, 72 and 84 centimeters.
