Xai sculptural table - 21 unique pieces

This unique Surrealist-style decorative object is handcrafted in a limited edition of 20 white and one black lamb. Each of these art objects is one of a kind, created in collaboration with the Gala Salvador Dalí Foundation. Two renowned workshops combine their expertise in the production of this piece. Xai. BD Barcelona From the capital of Catalonia, with its Art Editions collection, which also includes Xai, Deyrolle is entirely dedicated to preserving the art of lighting and furniture. Deyrolle – also known as Maison Deyrolle – has been a Parisian institution for natural history and education since 1831, when it began as a taxidermy workshop.

Between function, aesthetics, and fiction

At first glance, Xai appears to be a small table, but it is more of an artistic statement that—like the master of Surrealism himself—blurs the lines between function, aesthetics, and fiction. It unites Dalí's surrealist vision with the craftsmanship of BD Barcelona and Dyrolle, making it a unique art object for connoisseurs and collectors. Xai measures approximately 87 centimeters in length, with a back height of 59 centimeters and a top height of 71 centimeters. The width is given as 26 centimeters, although all measurements are approximate, as each Xai object must be considered unique. No lamb had to die specifically for this object—rather, it was produced with sustainability in mind.

Element from Dalí's painting

Salvador Dalí's Surrealist painting "Interpretation Project for a Stable-Library" is as fascinating as it is unusual. It depicts a young woman in a space that serves as both a study and a barn. She sits or lies on the floor, surrounded by sheep and lambs. Directly beside her, one of the lambs serves as a bedside table. It has a drawer on the side, and a telephone rests on its back. This unexpected combination of animal and functional piece of furniture is the central theme of the painting, lending it its surrealist character.

Secured provenance

The sculptural table Xai is inspired by this painting. The idea of using a lamb as a table was taken from Dalí's work and transformed into an extraordinary work of art. Xai is thus one of the sculptural elements from Salvador Dalí's Surrealist paintings that are absolutely unique in this form. Art connoisseurs and collectors can acquire Xai at TAGWERC as a limited original.
