PANTON TRAY SMALL

by Verner Panton, 1988

Panton Tray by Georg Jensen in size small is made of stainless steel according to a design by Verner Panton. Panton Tray, also known as Panton Crash Tray or just Crash Tray, fulfills the function of a bowl rather than a tray. In addition to the small size, Panton Tray is also available in a medium size and a particularly elegant silver version. To illustrate the design language he conceived for Panto Tray, Designer Verner Panton is said to have taken a sheet of paper from the manufacturer Georg Jensen, crumpled it up and pulled it apart again. Voilà c'est Panton Tray.

The anti-functionalist trend in 1980s design is reflected in the Panton Tray as well as in a number of other design classics: from Ron Arad's 'Bad tempered Chair' to the 'Juicy Salif' lemon squeezer by Philipe Starck for the Italian cult label Alessi. "What matters to me is not how things look, but what feelings they trigger," Starck is quoted as saying in an article in the Rheinische Post. With 'Juicy Salif', it was never about functionality, but only about the spectacle.

In contrast, Panton Tray proves to be extremely practical and versatile in everyday use. Panton Tray offers a refreshing alternative to conventional bowls made of glass, metal or plastic, and not just for food such as fruit, vegetables, cookies, nuts and other snacks. Panton Tray is also the ideal collection point for keys and all sorts of odds and ends from your jacket pocket, such as small change and cards.

Panton Tray, in German 'Panton Tablett', from Georg Jensen in size small is a decorative and food-safe tray made of shiny stainless steel. Despite its robustness, the special design makes the tray appear delicate and light, as Panton Tray is reminiscent of a crumpled sheet of paper. Panton Tray thus unites avoidable opposites, the Optik of light paper with the robustness of solid stainless steel. Panton Tray goes back to a design by Verner Panton from 1988. Design Interior specialist Tagwerc offers Panton Tray as a selected dealer in two sizes. On special request, Panton Tray can also be made in exclusive silver in addition to stainless steel.

As for Verner Panton Panton Tray plays with the reflection of light and shadow and the mirroring of other design elements in the room. Then as now, Panton Tray by Georg Jensen is produced in both stainless steel and silver. This makes the living object suitable for both indoor and outdoor use and undoubtedly belongs to the genre of '20th century decorative art'. A must-have for every design-oriented household and available in its original version from design interior specialist Tagwerc.
