VP GATE 1

Hand-knotted carpet

VP Gate 1 is a hand-knotted designer rug from the TAGWERC Design STORE, composed of geometric shapes such as squares, circles, and triangles. The VP Gate rug is available in two design variations and various sizes. VP Gate 1 by Designercarpets was inspired by the gate that served as the entrance to Verner Panton's home in Basel. In 1966, Panton commissioned wall panels depicting simple, geometric forms. The Danish-born artist then affixed these individual panels to the gate of his private residence, creating a collage effect. The VP Gate 1 rug echoes this collage.

Straight edges appear as lines on the hand-knotted VP Gate 1 rug, even though there are no actual lines. Dots and triangles seem to dissolve into squares – an optical illusion that... Designer Verner Panton who made good use of it throughout his life.

VP Gate 1 and VP Gate 2 differ in the arrangement of their individual shapes. This results in a redistribution of lighter and darker shades, creating a completely different effect that surprises the viewer. Similar, even identical, patterns, yet with an entirely different appearance – that's what VP Gate 1 is all about. Carpets from the design and interior specialist TAGWERC.
