VP GATE 1

Hand-knotted carpet

VP Gate 1 is a hand-knotted design rug from TAGWERC Design STORE, which is made up of geometric shapes such as squares, circles and triangles. The VP Gate rug is available in two design variants and various sizes. VP Gate 1 by Designercarpets was modeled on the gate that served as the entrance to Verner Panton's home in Basel. In 1966, Verner Panton commissioned the production of wall panels depicting simple, geometric shapes. The Danish-born designer fixed the individual panels to the gate of his private house like a collage. The VP Gate 1 carpet picks up on this collage.

The VP Gate 1 carpet makes use of the effect of contrasts. Lighter color nuances are contrasted with darker ones from the same color range. The strongest contrast in the VP Gate 1 rug is achieved by using black with a light beige as a counterpart. Straight edges look like lines in the hand-knotted VP Gate 1 rug, although there are no actual lines. Dots and triangles seem to dissolve into squares - an optical illusion that can be Designer Verner Panton made use of throughout his life.

The VP Gate 1 and VP Gate 2 differ in the different arrangement of the individual shapes. This results in a redistribution of the lighter and darker shades. A completely different effect surprises the observer. Similar, even identical patterns and yet a completely different appearance - these are the VP Gate carpets from design interior specialist TAGWERC.
