UFO

by Verner Panton, 1975

Like extravagant light fixtures, the UFO lamps float in the air. Ring-shaped plastic tubes, suspended from metal chains, form the three-dimensional body of the spaceships. Verner Panton created five different pendant lamps of this type in 1975. The lamp with the type designation VP0498-00-B-D07 has been seen again in homes since 2009. In this version of the UFO pendant lamp, the plastic tubes conceal the light source positioned in the center and simultaneously reflect the light.

UFO

The pendant light UFOs undoubtedly evoke the Space Age, when technological advancements paved the way for historic events. The space race between the USA and the Soviet Union began as early as the 1950s. The supposed first moon landing on July 21, 1969, as part of the American Apollo program, marked a high point. Architects and Designer, Influenced by these events, they are exploring the theme of space. This also applies to... Designer Verner Panton, who, among other things, invented the UFO lamp.

Understandably, the UFO pendant light doesn't provide general lighting, but rather a dreamy and accentuated mood light that illuminates its immediate surroundings. Whether hung individually in a corner or several in a lounge area, the UFO pendant light is exceptionally sculptural and extraordinary. UFO – the world is not enough!
