"The Petra VB3 lounge armchair builds on the great success of Little Petra ", is how the manufacturer &Tradition presents the armchair in spring 2024. Little Petra, named after Boesen's mother-in-law Petra, was a small woman with a big personality. Her special personality is to be reflected in the enveloping shape of the armchair design and inspired by it. Petra thus has the same bold character and aesthetic as Little Petra - but in a larger form with a raised backrest - similar to a classic wing chair.

Anatomical silhouette

As with the Little Petra Lounge armchair Petra also impresses with its compact size and special shape. Like a kind of negative form, the backrest of the Petra VB3 lounge chair replicates the anatomical silhouette of the sitter. Thanks to this nestled-in feel, the Petra VB3 armchair feels particularly cozy and comfortable and easily puts larger, more voluminous wing chairs in the shade. Cozy upholstered armrests provide an extra portion of comfort.

Sustainable materials

The Petra VB3 armchair is made from FSC-certified wood. This certificate stands for responsible, ecological, social and economic management of the world's forests. With a width of 80 centimeters and a depth of 91 centimeters, Petra measures 99 centimeters high. The seat height is a comfortable 40 centimetres, a height that allows users of all ages to stand up comfortably. With a weight of 26.6 kilograms, the Petra VB3 armchair offers sufficient stability without being too heavy for an occasional change of position. Felt glides, which are fitted under the feet as standard, make it easier to use the armchair on smooth floors such as tiles, parquet, laminate and designer concrete floors.

Comfort and quality

Open and 'embracing', Petra combines the best features of a wing chair and can be used in every conceivable environment: lobby, lounge, living room, men's room, dressing room, nursing room and bedroom. As with the Little Petra armchair , the Petra VB3 armchair is designed for maximum comfort and quality. The use of natural materials is at the heart of the production process: The legs of the chair are made of oak or walnut, echoing Viggo Boesen's love of natural materials.

The sheepskin-covered version of the armchair in particular supports this idea and is characterized by special properties. On the one hand, real fur is particularly robust and hard-wearing. On the other hand, the sheepskin-covered Petra armchair is characterized by its moisture-regulating and insulating properties, which make it cosy and comfortable. Petra from &Tradition is second only to Little Petra and Wulff the third armchair that reflects the special design concept of the Danish designer Viggo Boesen back to our time.
