The Georg Jensen brand originated in Denmark at the beginning of the 20th century. The Dane Georg Arthur Jensen founded the silversmith Georg Jensen Sølvsmedie in Copenhagen in 1904. Like Verner Panton, Georg Arthur Jensen studied at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen, but unlike Panton, he graduated half a century earlier and specialized in sculpture.
