Designers were far ahead of their time and therefore – if you will – often the enfants terribles of interior design in the 20th and 21st centuries. Take Verner Panton, for example. In an era of direct lighting, bulky wall units, and dark furnishings, he opted for precisely the opposite: indirect light, modular functional furniture, and color. His furniture, Carpets, Lamps and objects have become design classics. In times of mobile living, energy-saving lamps and LEDs, Panton's designs are also highly relevant.
Panton design classics can be found in restaurants, libraries, fashion shows, and offices, as well as in private homes, from dressing rooms to cigar lounges. They are modern, sophisticated, sometimes even elegant, and occasionally a bit daring – but certainly not outdated. Even though Panton – like some of the other design masters in the TAGWERC Design STORE – passed away at the end of the last century, his designs have immortalized the Swiss-born designer and all the other iconic pieces from the TAGWERC Design STORE. Good design is simply timeless.
