Art Basel 2024

Art Basel 2024 is just around the corner and promises to be a multi-sensory and unforgettable art experience. The fair, which is considered the undisputed leading art fair of the international art market, will take us to Basel, Switzerland, from June 13 to 16, 2024, including interesting and inspiring encounters.

Almost 300 galleries from 40 countries

At this year's edition, 285 of the world's leading galleries are expected to present international art and exhibit exclusive works from all areas of art, including painting, sculpture, photography and digital artworks. So with almost 300 galleries from 40 countries - including 22 galleries making their debut at the fair - there is plenty of art to discover and also to buy, as this is also an important aspect of the fair.

Monumental art unlimited

The spectacular "Unlimited" sector, curated by Giovanni Carmine and dedicated to monumental works of art, promises to be a highlight of the exhibition. The video sector is curated by Filipa Ramos and Marian Masone and is set to present the most visionary cinema of today's artists.

Transformation and circulation

Curated for the first time by Stefanie Hessler, Director of the Swiss Institute in New York, the Parcours sector has been revised and relocated to Clarastrasse in Basel. This area aims to explore ideas of transformation and circulation in processes of trade, globalization and ecology. This is done by means of site-specific and newly produced works by 23 artists.

Iconic wheat field

Eco-pioneer Agnes Denes has already installed a new edition and interpretation of her iconic wheat field on the Messeplatz. Another new feature of Art Basel will be the activation of the Hotel Merian as a venue for artistic programming.

Humor as subversive potential

The discussion program, curated this year by Berlin-based critic Kimberly Bradley, is dedicated to topics such as the role of museums as interdisciplinary centers and aims to explore the subversive potential of humour.
